The Anconetano regional knife or fishermen's knife is a typical model from the lower Adriatic coast, dating back to the late 19th century. Simple in its shape and construction, it is an essential tool for those who depend on fishing for their livelihood. It has two distinguishing features: the first is the flat spring, which fits perfectly along the back of the handle and is secured to it with a screw. The second feature of this regional knife concerns the handle, which has a notch near the butt that the fishermen used to make knots and mend their nets.
