The Historic Scarpetta knife
This is a typical regional knife made in Scarperia as early as the mid-1800s, and its special feature is the shape of the handle, which ends in the shape of a shoe. The knife's name is similar to that of the district where it is made, but there is no connection; rather, it came about as a logical solution to a specific problem. It was necessary to avoid the blade tip protruding, and it was desired that the tip-housing element should represent something. This manner of shaping the handle of the Historic Scarpetta knife is found on examples from very different places, excluding the possibility of reinterpretations or evolutions of certain models.
