Historic Calabrese Knife
The historic Calabrese folding knife is made with a fine buffalo horn handle; the blade is in brushed 70c stainless steel, and it is fitted with a traditional simple springless closing mechanism.
The traditional Calabrian knife
The typical knives of Calabria are so diverse in shape that we can assume that the regional Calabrian knife produced in Scarperia has been profoundly elaborated by local craftsmen, who have drawn on their own repertoire. The Calabrese knife is a replica of an original springless model from the 19th century. The function of these particular Calabrian knives is not clear; they were probably intended as part of a woman's trousseau. The main production centre, and perhaps the only one, was located in the area comprising the neighbouring districts of Sersale and Andali, near Catanzaro. The buffalo horn handle is crafted with linear carvings to embellish it.
