The 18th-century knife of Piedmont
Piedmont's historic 18th-century knife has a sturdy and tapered structure typical of fighting knives. This folding knife could reach 70 cm in length. Historic Piedmont knives are recognisable by a particular facet on the handle bolster; this feature probably referenced the typical Piedmont landscaping and construction styles of the time (approx. 19th century). Certain Piedmontese knives pieces have the particular feature of having the handle made from two different materials, often tortoiseshell, ivory and buffalo.We find various types exhibited in the criminal museum of Rome.
