The mysterious and fascinating Sicilian knife
The Salitano is a historical knife typical of the Salaparuta area in the province of Trapani and dates back to the mid-19th century. It is a very long model, probably created to defend and attack, it continues to retain the allure of one of the most mysterious and fascinating historical knives of the Italian tradition. It is a highly decorated folding knife, in fact the handle can be crafted in various shapes, sometimes round and hexagonal or octagonal. The spring is fixed to the back of the knife by rivets, and one side of the knife houses a lateral release which allows the spring to rise so that it can be closed. The butt of this historic knife is finished with a brass or nickel silver bolster, which not only embellishes it but also prevents the tip of the blade from protruding.
